Terrible load times
So a few days ago my computer was running fine, I was loading zones at around 150kb/sec. Now, all of the sudden whenever I load into a new zone or outpost, it is loading at 5-7kb a second. This is terrible as I cannot AB or RA . . . my team is dead by the time I am actually playing. I have virtually no lag while playing, it has just gotten incredibly slow while loading. Any suggestions?

Yeah, post you're specs, but it may not be your computer.
Are you having to download whenever you enter an areas? Is that what you mean by loading? Since you've posted your link speeds, that makes me wonder if that's what you're talking about or not.

I am not downloading each time I zone, just some of the time. When I am farming, the zone loads right away, I kill stuff, go back to town, no issues. Whenever I am entering a place for the first time since an update, for example, or when there is "new" information (like other players in AB, RA) my download speed has dropped randomly from ~150kb per second to 5-7kb. So while it takes me 1-2 seconds to get into a zone I was just in, it takes ~10 minute to start an AB match, by which time it is almost over. Everything was fine a few days ago, and the computer isn't slow at all. I would imagine it has something to do with my internet connection.

Run gw.exe with the -image switch and see if that takes care of the problem.

How do I do that? Sorry about my helplessness . . . I haven't fiddled around with GW much. Thanks for the help as well.

Go into the properties of your GW shortcut and add "-image" to the end of the target field so that it looks like:
"Wherever\you\have\gw\installed\Gw.exe" -image
Start the game using the modified shortcut, and it will download all the files for every part of GW so you don't have to download all of them while loading a new zone. This isn't an actual solution to the slow downloading times, but a workaround. Your computer may have failing components, a severely fragmented hard drive, or your internet connection may be at fault.
Be sure to remove the "-image" part of the shortcut before you use the GW shortcut again to play.

GW uses a live streaming technology to load the zones, which means you can have your GW installation as small as 700mb if you only go to a few select zones. the -image flag will force the GW client to download every file in one go, so you won't have this problem in any zone.
just be sure to remove it once it finishes, or else you won't be able to start your game.

Check your firewall settings. See if it allows GW. I had the same issue with norton in the past. It worked then some update changed things and downloads went down the tubes for GW only. I had to manually change it to allow GW.

Thanks for the help all, it is working fine after the -image trick. This can be closed if needed.
